WAWWA
– Sustainable, Organic, Fairtrade, Vegan Clothing

WAWWA's commitment to minimising environmental impact is evident in every aspect: from sourcing materials to manufacturing practices.

The brand focuses on using vegan and earth-friendly materials meticulously chosen and selected for minimal damage to the environment and maximum durability. They utilise recycled fabrics and trims wherever possible, and their clothing labels are made using recycled plastic, attempting in this way to find use for the discarded mountains of plastic in the world.

They offer an extensive range of organic clothing outerwear, trousers, shirts, jerseys, and accessories.

WAWWA’s aim is to minimise the effect on the Planet, by creating a long-lasting, well-designed option that feels and looks impressive - so you don't have to replace it much.

So here are some key reasons to wear organic.

1. Organic T-shirts uses 71% less water than conventional t-shirt. This means less unnecessary irrigation or diversion of water has been done, leaving that water to be used for more important things, like drinking.

2. There is no artificial fertiliser used to grow the cotton. This fertiliser has a negative impact on the farmers, the local water system, the wildlife and uses a heap more CO2 to make the fertiliser.

3. No pesticides are used either! Regular cotton accounts for 16% of the world’s pesticide usage. These pesticides account for 20,000 reported deaths each year. Organic cotton avoids this.

4. It protects the soil for years to come. By using crop rotation and mixed planting, the land and local economies are made more sustainable for years to come.

Certified Sustainability

WAWWA's dedication to environmental protection is upheld by certifications like:

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) - the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. GOTS-certified final products may include fibre products, yarns, fabrics, clothes, home textiles, mattresses, personal hygiene products, as well as food contact textiles and more.

Global Recycled Standard (GRS) - a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content, and labelling.

These certifications show that WAWWA’s supply chain meets high ecological and social criteria. GRS Certification sets comprehensive requirements for certification of recycled content, supply chain transparency, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) - the world's leading sustainability initiative for cotton with a mission to support in well-being and growing cotton communities while protecting and restoring the environment.

However: The Changing Markets Foundation (which works to expose irresponsible corporate practices) in their report, The False Promise of Certification, ranked BCI as one of the worst schemes (among others, the organization tolerate pesticides and GMOs). Is BCI cotton sustainable? Is BCI cotton "better"? Not really.

Wawwa has been dedicated to crafting hardwearing products using Waxed Organic Ripstop Cotton, a fabric that exhibits water resistance and durability and treads lightly on the environment.

For some of their products, they make a transition to Waxed Recycled Ripstop Cotton - made from 100% GRS Certified Recycled Cotton. This all ensures that this fabric adheres to stringent sustainability standards and that products using the fabric are produced with the utmost care for the environment, workers, and consumers.
