Why ALOHAS?

A fashion brand that does not harm animals or take the massive amount of natural resources that animal products need

Pre-order business model for forecasting the level of demand before starting production.
(on-demand manufacturing)

Alohas have a great and continuously growing selection of vegan styles, made from hand-crafted plants, 100% synthetic/artificial, vegan-friendly PU (polyurethane) leather, or recycled leather.
These leathers alternative materials are crucial to a more genuinely sustainable and ethical fashion industry.

The vegan collection is created with two sustainable plant-based options:
-  highly sustainable and environmentally friendly cactus-based material Desserto®, manufactured in Mexico (you can read more
here)
- corn leather made in Italy, a combination of organic plant material and PU (you can read more
here)

Production of the most common animal leather - cow skin leather has one of the largest greenhouse gas footprints of any material and creates environmental damage such as deforestation, overuse of water, and heavy use of chemicals during tanning making it non-biodegradable, etc.

All animal skin is a highly valuable by-product of the meat and dairy industry, which treats thinking and feeling animals like objects. This industry causes animals unimaginable suffering, pollutes land and water, and damages human health.

So when we buy leather alternatives, we help shift profits from slaughterhouses to animal- and earth-friendly initiatives.

Because leather seems to be one of the most durable, high-quality materials for autumn/winter collections, Alohas cooperates with certified sustainable suppliers approved by the Leather Working Group (the world's largest organisation that audits leather supply chains and certifies those that meet strict sustainability standards; (you can read more here). Choosing the right suppliers is critical to ensure that the best environmental practices are not compromised.

Alohas’ on-demand manufacturing means they only make what we want to buy; neither more nor less than what is ordered.

Overproduction in fashion is one of the world’s biggest environmental threats.

This pre-order system allows them to accurately predict the level of demand before starting production, so they only produce as many shoes as they really intend to sell.

Every time a new collection is launched, Aloha waits for new orders to start production. Creates 0% excess material - it's an efficient, sustainable way to shop. And consumers have a chance to be part of this movement towards a more sustainable fashion industry.

How on-demand works?

1. Every Thursday they launch new products at 30% off, available to pre-order for two weeks (time needed to determine demand levels for each item).

2. After this time the first production starts. The discount drops to 15% for ongoing pre-orders. It takes about six weeks and the second production begins.

3. At this stage, items are now in stock at full price. Ready straight away to ship, but at a higher price.
